The First “Juniors National Championship” took place in 1974 at Cantonville Community College in Cantonville, MD. The event was considered a great success with over 200 athletes (not teams!) competing.
The picture now looks wildly different from 1974. At the 2022 USAV Girls Juniors National Championships, there were 40 regions represented by 1,820 teams with over 20,000 players participating.
That’s a lot of clubs and kids. It can quickly overwhelm the uninitiated parent. Our purpose here at ClubSportsIQ is to simplify and demystify the entire process of how to find a club best suited for your child. This includes explaining the tryout process, helping you understand the cost structure, and imparting a general sense of expectations about what club volleyball life entails. Our mission statement captures this succinctly:
Helping parents make informed, intelligent decisions for Club Sports
ClubSportsIQ is the premier site for resources & information designed to help families navigate club volleyball. Signing up for a FREE account gives you the power to personalize your CSiQ experience by age group, region and more! Once the season begins, you will have easy access to tournament schedules, results, and rankings, both locally and nationally.
If you upgrade to a subscription service, you will also gain access to our player profile portal. This powerful tool allows you to generate a unique profile page of your daughter or son that coaches & clubs in your region can view. Additionally, you obtain an avenue to communicate with potential coaches via text & email. With a paid subscription, coaches can
reach out directly about open gyms, training camps, pre-tryout clinics, and invite only clinics.
With so many kids and clubs it becomes overwhelming for coaches to fully appreciate new and semi-new players interested and available in their area. Club & coach subscriptions allow customized searches for potential players and will allow coaches to reach out to the athlete’s parents directly, express interest, and extend invitations.
Ultimately, club sports should be a fun and valuable experience that teaches your child important life lessons they can use beyond the court. With a little guidance and support from CSiQ, we can help you and your child successful navigate this journey.
